In a relaxed setting, enjoy exploring and gaining a better knowledge of painting in watercolor. This medium has fine distinctions and perplexing qualities that can be perceived as mysterious and difficult. Our workshop reviews the work and examples of historical and contemporary artists as a starting point, before experimenting with our own works on paper. Advice and help is offered concerning the properties of color, mixing and administering color, and in painting on different types of paper. At the end of our session you will take away one or more of your original artworks. All artistic levels welcome in class.
All materials will be provided for class use.
Student notes: Students are encouraged to pack a lunch for this fun filled class.
Payment can be made by calling the Gallery at (503) 436-4426 or by clicking here!
Our regular Gallery hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 4pm
Drenda Duff regards figurative art, composed and arranged in natural surroundings, as a favorite subject for her drawings and paintings. She is interested in still life and landscape as well. She enjoys working in oil, pastel, and watercolor. In all subjects there is significant deliberation on the use of light, which communicates mood or presence in her work. In addition, Drenda considers studying artists and their work, both contemporary and from the past, as pivotal to her own growth and learning process. Her study of art history is employed not only as an instructive tool but also to stimulate her own ideas and creative process.
Drenda and her husband David have lived in Cannon Beach for 25 years.
In 2005 Drenda took a hiatus from her artwork to study at Portland State University, receiving her BA in Art/Art History. Currently she paints full time in her home art studio. In Cannon Beach, her work has shown at Windridge Gallery, Bronze Coast Gallery, Cannon Beach Gallery, and at the Chamber Stormy Weather Arts Festivals. She currently sells her artwork at “Drenda Duff Fine Art.”
