Modern-day art quilt-making techniques can be applied to projects to give a chance to capture memories and create family keepsakes. You will learn a variety of ways to decorate and manipulate fabric which can be used for pillows, wall hangings, bags, picture frames and book covers. Incorporate a child’s drawing, include some lace from a special dress, or preserve a favorite photo. Replicate a line from a favorite book or letter. A variety of techniques will be demonstrated: photo transfer, fabric painting, appliqué, stencil, stamping, stabilizing knit/tee shirt fabrics, fabric deconstruction, chenille, couching and embellishment, etc. Applications of design principles through form, value, color and texture will be discussed as you work on your ideas and make a sampler of techniques that will be used for project completion.

Please bring a special keepsake or souvenir to include in your keepsake creation. Some examples include hotel brochures, travel journal, a drawing from your refrigerator door, or a couple photos for inspiration.
