Juried Shows – Juried group shows are open to all artists and are curated by visiting arts professionals. Past jurors have included Bonnie Laing-Malcolmson, Charles Froelick, Jessi DiTillio, and Jennifer Zika. The Cannon Beach Gallery has three to four juried shows each year. A call for work notice is sent out to a mailing list of artists via email. Any interested artist can be placed on the email list. Shows are always juried from actual exhibit ready work by a guest juror. Generally artists can submit three pieces in any medium. Work must be recent (within 2 years) and be for sale. Occasionally there is a theme for a juried show. Information specific to each show is included on the call for work. Call or email the Gallery with your contact information (name, address, phone, e-mail) to be included in our artists list and to receive notice for all juried shows.
Featured Exhibits – Artists are invited to be featured at the Gallery for solo, group and themed exhibits. A committee oversees the selection of artists to be featured. Any interested artist(s) can submit a proposal to be featured. Artists may also make a proposal to be featured in the Gallery. A proposal should include at least 10 images (photos or digital) of artwork, an artist’s resume, a written description of what the artist is proposing for exhibit, and any other materials that may help the Gallery Committee make selections. Please include a SASE for return of materials. The Committee reviews artist’s packets as they are received throughout the year.
Artist Grant – The CBAA, in conjunction with the City of Cannon Beach, provides an Individual Artist Grant each year to an artist, musician, performer or writer annually. This grant is intended to provide funding for an artist(s) to pursue a project of significance. The artist(s) must be part of the Cannon Beach community (including Tolovana Park and Arch Cape) for the duration of their project and provide a return to the community in the form of exhibit, performance, publication or other appropriate medium. Please email or call us for inquiries about specifics of this program. The Artist Grant History has a listing of past recipients and projects. Our most recent recipient is Drea Rose Frost whose show will be on display at the Gallery through the month of April, 2017. The application is available at the Cannon Beach Gallery.
Internship Program – The CBAA Internship Program had its inaugural year at the gallery in 2013. A college student was given the opportunity to work in the gallery during the summer months. The program allowed the recipient to enrich their personal arts experience while gaining real world experience in a commercial arts environment. It has been shown that college graduates who participate in an internship program gain the kind of real life work experience that employers are looking for in their employees. The program was a success for all involved and the CBAA is committed to providing such an experience for future interns. Email or call us for inquiries about specifics of this program.
Scholarships – A CBAA Scholarship Program has been established for graduating seniors of Seaside High School. The scholarship is awarded to a student(s) planning to pursue continuing education in the arts. This scholarship is not based on academic achievement and is not limited to students entering college. It is based on the arts interests and achievements of the students and their desire to pursue those interests. Please email or call us for inquiries about specifics of this program. The High School Scholarship History has a listing of past scholarship recipients. Additionally, we are partnering with the newly established Royal Nebeckar scholarship fund, as of 2017, to provide scholarships for students of Clatsop County.
