The CBAA, in conjunction with the City of Cannon Beach, provides a $4,000 Individual Artist Grant each year to an artist, musician, performer or writer annually. This grant is intended to provide funding for an artist(s) to pursue a project of significance. The artist(s) must be part of the Cannon Beach community (including Tolovana Park and Arch Cape) for the duration of their project and provide a return to the community in the form of exhibit, performance, publication or other appropriate medium. Please email or call us for inquiries about specifics of this program.
Past projects have been varied, and have included self-published books such as the Colors of Cannon Beach by Grant Wood and Comin’ Over the Rock by Peter Lindsey, fine art installations in the Cannon Beach Gallery and stage productions at the Coaster Theater. For example, Patrick Lathrop, the Executive Director of the Coaster Theater, wrote and directed a one act musical entitled Storms, Stories and Songs which starred local school children in 2011. The Artist Grant History has a listing of past recipients and projects.
The 2015-2016 Application can be downloaded and is also available at the Cannon Beach Gallery.
Peter Greaver: 2013-2014 Artist Grant Recipient
Peter explored the concept that nature contains unseen and magical forces by creating a series of fairy cottages using a variety of materials and found objects. Peter’s fairy cottages were on display at the Cannon Beach Gallery in December 2014 and January 2015 and were simply amazing! In conjunction with the show, the CBAA hosted a Fairy Tea Party. Tea and whimsical cookies were served and children of all ages were invited to create their own fairy inspired crafts.
