Bas relief or low relief sculpture is a unique and creative process of carving and painting in linoleum mounted blocks. Students will learn how to safely carve a block traditionally used for making a print. We will flip this process on its head and instead of creating a blockprint, you will have the opportunity to create a shallow relief using your pre-drawn image while learning acyclic painting techniques specific for this process. Your painted carved block will become the artwork itself. Come prepared wit ideas and a few of your own 4” x 6” sketches for this very special 2 day weekend workshop full of experimentation and fun!
