Exhibiting Opportunity with New CBAA & Coaster Theatre Partnership

The Cannon Beach Arts Association and Coaster Theatre are coming together to curate a series of art exhibits to be displayed in the Coaster Theatre. We would like to invite you to submit images of your work by email. The first show is very soon, opening with the performance of “The Apple Tree” on March 4. Images should be emailed to Jane Brumfield at cannonbeacharts@gmail.com by noon, Friday 26 February (this Friday). Selected work would need to be delivered to Cannon Beach Gallery, 1064 S. Hemlock Street, Cannon Beach on Saturday 27 February or Sunday 28 February. Selected artists will be notified by telephone on Friday afternoon, so make sure you include your full contact details in the body of the email. We know this one is very short notice, but we would like to encourage you to submit. There will be more opportunities with more notice, posted shortly.

Theme

We would like to select work that relates or complements the current theatre production. “The Apple Tree” is a charming musical made up of three musical miniatures: The Diary Of Adam And Eve is a quirky, touching spin on the tale of the world’s first couple adapted from Mark Twain’s Extracts From Adam’s DiaryThe Lady Or The Tiger?, a rock and roll fable set in a mythical barbarian kingdom explores the fickleness of lovePassionella is based on Jules Feiffer’s offbeat Cinderella-story about a chimney sweep whose dreams of being a “glamorous movie star” nearly sabotage her one chance for true love.

Summer Intern July 11 – September 30

Description

Cannon Beach Arts Association seeks applicants to its Intern Program. The summer internship will begin in July and run through until the end of September. The intern will gain a variety of experience in all aspects of working in a nonprofit arts organization. Many of the skills covered in the intern program are transferable, but it will most benefit candidates wishing to develop a career in arts administration, or individuals wishing to gain greater understanding of arts infrastructure, gallery management and audience development.

The intern will work with the Program Director to assist the delivery of Cannon Beach Arts Association’s programs. The work will include: exhibition, workshop and event planning and implementation, PR and educational content development, marketing and social media campaigns, basic design and print production, inventory and sales documentation, and dealing with the public.

Candidates should have good interpersonal skills, well developed communication skills, enjoy research and writing, have attention to detail, and the ability to work independently — and most importantly, a strong interest in the visual arts.  Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs, and a background in customer service and sales is preferred.

Candidates may either be currently enrolled, be a graduate of a degree program, or exemplify a passion for the arts and arts education. Preferred areas of study: Visual Arts, Arts Administration, Arts Education, Business, Marketing, or Journalism. If you intend earn extra course credits from the intern experience, please check with your college adviser about the educational institution’s required documentation.

Hours and Remuneration

  • Average of 20 hours per week over a three month period.
  • Spring internship, July 11 – September 30.
  • $11 per hour, to a maximum compensation of $3000.
